Supporting Shaun Gash

Wheelchair-bound paraplegic, Shaun Gash, sets his sights on Kimimanjaro

We are proudly supporting Shaun with his enormous aim of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

shaun gashThis would be a massive challenge for anyone, but especially for Shaun as he is paralysed from the chest down. Shaun doesn’t let this stop him and is continually pushing himself to complete amazing challenges. For example, last year Shaun completed two 10km Born Survivor obstacle courses, both designed by the Royal Marines. This year he will complete a sky dive and an event named Gelt Gladiator (which will be the first for any wheelchair competitor).

So far Shaun has raised over an amazing £20,000 for local charities.

All of these challenges are leading up to his main event, where he will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in August 2016. Shaun says, “This is the ultimate challenge in anyone’s eyes but more so for me as I’m in a wheelchair and completely paralysed from my chest. This is going to be an incredible achievement and experience and will be both physically and emotionally demanding.

Here at The Borough we are supporting Shaun by donating 10p from every main course sold and have charity boxes on the bar for those kind enough to donate.
